Yet another effect of the opioid epidemic.

Montgomery County is as rural as rural Indiana gets, and for over a century has never needed a morgue, relying on a Crawfordsville hospital for storage. But with nine opioid overdoses this year, county officials have decided relying on funeral homes just isn’t working.  The county just purchased a cooler and began building renovations to establish a morgue early next year.

*The morbidity of this post isn’t typical of OrangeBean, but I think that underlines the seriousness of the opioid crisis. The numbers alone are terrifying.
